I have a 2000 Disco II that had similar problems today. Came out to start after a short trip, engine turned over but would not start. After about 10 minutes started up, then stalled about two blocks down the road. Same again, engine turned over but would not start. After about 30 minutes, she started up, went about 2-3 blocks and stalled again. After about 30 minutes she started again. I didn't drive it this time as the wrecker had arrived. I don't have all the codes with me but I remember P1590 (which it has shown before) a bunch of P0304,0306,0307, and another P0300.
I can get them tomorrow from the shop. Disco has 89k miles and I'm wondering if this could be indicative of a fuel filter. I don't know if it has ever been changed. The shop was thinking perhaps a sensor that reacts when it heats up? Any replies appreciated. The shop is a local one (Fort Walton Beach, Fl.) that specializes in imports as we have no LR dealers within 250 miles. |

I doubt just the filter would cause that problem and have it happen so suddenly. If my memory isn't failing- some of those codes are misfire codes. Could be an ignition issue- the shop should be able to sort it easily.
Ft. Walton Beach- I used to be stationed there... we used to fly up and down the beaches scopin bikinis from the chopper...

You must have been at Hurlburt Field. I moved here after retiring (cop)from Indiana, about 11 years ago. The shop doing the work was probably here when you were, Martin Automotive International. Sounded like he knew what he was talking about when I dropped it off yesterday.
I also read on the forum that the 2000 Disco's don't have a inline fuel filter, only a screening type in the tank. I thought I had read somewhere that the fuel filter was accessed by removing the right rear tire and getting behind the wheelwell. Must have been another year or model. The Bikinis are still here, albeit a little smaller, and beach watching is still popular from Anglers at the Okaloosa Island Pier. HURLBURT Special Ops are still patrolling the beaches for our safety as well. |

The crank sensor controls the fuel pump.
without the signal no fuel pressure. I dont know it sounds like a faulty crank position sensor. And no its not easy to fix. Its on the backside. wait a minute you said the vehicle had a new motor. We ran into a motor that was replaced on a Disco and someone squished the wiring to the crank position sensor. If it doesnt start tell the manager to take a look at the crank position sensor and the wiring, its possible its problematic. |

Glad to hear it was a simple repair. So often we jump into the Giant Parts Bin and look at all the worst case possibilitys just to find another faulty Rover relay.
Have a good weekend. Mike |
