Can you help me troubleshoot a problem with the rear wiper on my '02 Discovery II? Rear wiper stopped working. Rear washer does work. I thought they shared the same relay, so the relay should be OK.
How would I tell if it is a problem with the rear wiper switch or with the motor? Or could it be something else?
Two separate fuses. Can you hear the wiper motor work, just not move the wiper?
If so, check and make sure the pivot nut is tight or the wiper won't move.
It is rare to see that motor fail.

No sound out of the motor, Mike.
If it is in the switch, which one? There's the rear wiper switch itself on the dash, and then there's the main wiper switch on the column which controls the rear intermittent speed. I'm confused how they work together. The main wiper switch has been a little flaky for awhile -- I have to jiggle it a bit to get the front wipers working.
Are these difficult to replace? Anything you can suggest to pin down the problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Before you start replacing things, make sure you are getting voltage to the switch and to the motor using a test probe.

I found out I was getting voltage to the switch, but not the motor. After lots of fiddling with the switch, the motor began to run, although not consistently. Will try to get a new switch tomorrow. Thanks, Mike.
On an entirely different subject, have you ever heard anyone rig their headlights so they shut off with the ignition? Is this even possible? I've run down a battery several times when I've had the lights on in daylight. Just wondering...
If you had your truck set up to run daytime headlights they would go on and off with the ignition, That would involved the dealer installing a relay and activating the head light system thru the ECU.
