Default New 99' Disco 11 Owner Question

Hi all I am happy to announce that I am a New owner of a 1999 Disco for about a year now. I am very new to this forum this is my first post. I currently got all newer Harmon Kardon speakers off from e-bay. My question is when installing these newer speakers as I understand it from the workshop manual (if I am wrong please let me know) I have to take off the entire inside door casing to take out the old and in with the new. The original speakers in this truck were also Harmon Kardon but they have a crackling sound when listening to them. I am doing the work myself and I want to know what I'm getting into.

On a side note I love this truck I will never get rid of it. I can't really afford taking it to the dealer every time it brakes down so I bought a manual off from craigslist and I'm trying to do the little things myself to keep this truck in working order.

Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks to all!!!

Generally Crackling noise wouldn't be the speakers. do you hear the noise only when you adjust the volume? if so then you have a dirty pot on the radio.

or does it really sound like a blown speaker? is it one speaker or all the speaker?

so many questions..

BTW welcome

It’s not all of the speakers that are crackling. I also hear the crackling as I listen to a CD I guess I could describe it as a vibration/rattling noise in some of the speakers including the rear subwoofer. I think regardless I am going to check them out just to see if the cones are starting to decompose b/c the truck is nine years old and I have another set of Harmon Kardon Speakers.

Another question when taking off the inside door casing are their plastic clips securing it to the actual door and should I be worried that they might break as I un-clip them from the door?

When listening to the radio I hear the signal fade in and out is that normal for a 99 DII?

Default If it's not...

If it's not your speakers how much do you want for them? I'm looking at upgrading my phillips to HK.
