New Brakes
Been going over the disco, and my front rotors have a pretty neat ridge on them. The brakes are working just fine, so In a month or so I'll change em. I went to the new local auto store, and back brakes and pads were $450! They couldn't get the front ones. I have been reading the posts and I looked at the Atlantic britsh site and they have Ferodo brakes for $370, rotors and pads all around. This sounds ok to me, but has anyone used Ferodo before? Just wondering how well they worked.

not on my rover, but I do run Ferodo DS 2500 pads on my audi allroad.
inside these:  I ma very pleased with the Ferodo pad. they are a little dusty - but I have had others that were MUCH worse. good stopping power and very little fade with repeated high speed stops.

oh and that atlantic british setup looks pretty good price wise. just for reference, the ferodo pads for those alcons run at ~$220 just for the front pads alone!

112k on the truck. No, the brakes work just fine, the stopping power seems good. I haven't driven a disco before this tho, so nothing to compare it too but other cars. I wouldn't have even thougt of changing the brakes, just there is a ridge on my front rotors and it is probably 1/4" (maybe a little less).

hi
have an 03 disc. at 50K. I needed to brake pads and rotors for the front and the back. If you have a tire plus store they can do it a guarantee the pads and rotors for a year. Cost for total work was $550

Don't worry about the ridge, all Rovers get them because the pads don't cover 100% of the rotor service.
When you get ready then shout and lets talk about what brake pad options you have. Mike |

OK. I have to jump in with a question. A week ago I put new Akebono euro ceramics pads onto DBA rotors and now they "squeal" when gliding to a stop. I then went out to the reservation to brake them in. After THREE hard stops, i had almost NO braking power but the squeal was gone. Now, it's back. I used ALL the shims AND "no squeal" and they still sing.. Do you think I need to put more gunk onto the pads, or just put in Kevlar ones???

Ceramic pads don't work well on DBA rotors, Kevlar pads are by far the best. I currently have nearly 70,000 miles on my DBA's with the same set of Kevlar pads, with nearly 40% of the pads remaining.
