New Discovery owner

Hi,

I just bought a 2001 Discovery SE. It's everything I expected, both good and bad :-)
The seller tried to 'fix' a couple of things but in the long run seem to made things worse. I'm hoping some one can help me to correct the 'fix'.
First thing they had to do was to replace the lock actuator in the right rear door. Now it locks but takes a couple of hard pulls before it opens from the outside. Way more force than the other doors. The window also is misbehaving.
When I press the down button nothing happens then a couple of seconds later it just 'drops' down, about half way and wont go any further. Up is nice and smooth. I'm assuming they messed up the regulator when replacing the lock actuator. Any suggestion on what to look for? Loose/bent guides?

The other thing is they replaced the battery and on the neg lead there is a flat connector that looks like it should have been bolted to a bus bar just behind the jack housing. The battery looks too small and the neg lead had to be unscrewed from the bus bar and rerouted over the jack.
The only solution is to get a correct sized battery and reconnect the neg lead. However I'm seeing some other issues and wonder if they are related.
I.e. The radio wont work, no power. Checked the fuses. So it's either this or the radio is fried.
The ACE warning light is always lit (amber). It's turned off a couple of times but is on more often than not. Bad ground issue?
I did notice the fluid in the reservoir was churning around while the engine was running. Is this normal?
Can't shift center diff into neutral either. Before I start pulling apart the interlock solenoid, could this be a bad ground too?

Any ideas?
General pointers/tips for a new Discovery owner :-)

all this neglect and half a*s jobs. I would put my money on the fluids all getting the same abuse! sounds like premature problems waiting to multiply!
