Ok - so I have fried my engine (overheat) and have to purchase a new engine for Disco 2, 99.
I really did not like the older engine (very slow) and am looking for an alternate engine to put in the disco. I've heard the LS1 been thrown around but seems to be too much of a hassle to put in the disco. Can anyone give me suggestions as to alternative to the stock Bosch engine? Thanks, |

The only way I would even think of swapping to another engine would be to go diesel. ![]() Steve

Ive recently replaced my engine in my 01 d2, I put the stock motor back in. I thought about the diesel sawp, but the wiring that you would have to do to get it running would be a pain and not a cheap one either. Unless you have money spend i would put what came out back in. I have alot more power, since the motor is new and then heads were machined. good luck its still pricey

actually you need more then wiring, try a pump, engine, new lines, new pulleys and routing, new radiator, new intercooler.
You guys never look at what it takes to really run a modern vehicle. You have so much to learn.

You can import a 4.6 block from the UK quite cheaply. There is a mob in the UK that buy the rejected 4.6 motors from Landrover and then put top hat sleeves in them. We can buy them here for around $3,000US for effectively a brand new high compression 4.6 short motor. The difference between the 4.0 and 4.6 isn't great, but it does make the vehicle that bit more pleasant to drive. Or if you really want a bit of power, just rebuild the 4.0 and connect up a supercharger. You will get around a 50% increase in power at the wheels. Picture below |
