Alright my wife finally got her truck back!
Got the new frame put on under warranty, along with all new fuel and brake lines, bolts, nuts, gaskets, bushings, etc.,etc.! Had the axels, radius arms, trailing arms wire brushed and undercoated, along with the wheel arches too. Also while in there they swapped out the SLS for for an OME medium duty(because of garage height restraints), new extended SS brake lines, and put on the Safari Guard rock sliders that I have been putting off getting done for a good year! All for the grand total of...........$54!!!!!!! YES you read that correctly! So if anyone is pondering the purchase of a LR extended warranty...pony up, it's worth it!So here are the tons of pics. Enjoy. Last edited by Badger1 : 03-18-2007 at 06:51 PM. |

Wow, super cool! I dig the color of it too!
That old frame was horribly rusted Glad the new one worked out. So that was an LR-warranty? Not a 3rd party correct?Btw, how much would it have cost you had you not had the warranty?

No LR extended warranty! They caught it one day before it expired too. Cost... I am guessing $20-25K maybe? Not really sure because the job went way faster than expected. Here are some pics of the loaner they gave us. Last edited by Badger1 : 03-18-2007 at 06:51 PM. |

You know what you should of done (which I didnt even think about until now) ... threw a 1 or 2" body lift on there also... since they had the body off, all they would have had to do is throw a few metal pucks on the body mounts.. and you coulda had a nice 4-5" lift total!

Very nice! Congratulations to your wife! Is she going to let you play with her new toy?
Quick question for you: it looks like your rear receiver is bolted directly to the frame using the factory holes which I presume are there for that purpose, right?

This is the coolest series of pics... seriously. I wonder if they forgot to properly treat / paint / rustproof / etc a batch of the LR frames from the factory that year? (ie the old "built on a monday after new years" story)
Really crazy though, I'd bet there are more rovers out there with this same problem. Good work on getting it replaced. And I can't believe they did this, from a cost perspective, it's really cool of them. If I were the land rover rep, I'd have just given you an '04 and called it even. (how I wish I were the land rover rep) |

That is what everyone I have talked to said, why don't they just give you an 04 off the lot and call it even. I don't know. Now I don't really care either lol! As far as the rusty frame, you might have hit that right on the head. The other thing is the previous owner might have taken the truck wheeling out east and dipped it in the ocean a few million times or something I don't know I am glad it is fixed. |
