Default Newbie!! :D

Hey you all! Well, Hopefully starting on Saturday, I will be other Land Rover fanatic!! I am purchasing a 2003 Disco SE7 with 33,000 miles on it for $21,250... it is also under the extended warranty and will hopefully to become a "certified pre-owned vehicle" this week!... Anyway, before set my name is stone, I was wondering what are the definite things to look out for on 03' Discos. I know that the U-joints tend to crack, and that christmas comes early when all three lights come on which I guess indicated brake problems, but I was wondering if I could have a list of things to definitely look out for before I do the final papework on this fine vehicle.

I have become an avid reader of these forums and I can't wait to get as much input as possible so I can keep this car for a while! Thank you and have a great great week!

03 would be one of those years that there is no CDL.

Oh by the way welcome and congrats on your purchase!

Welcome Johnny. The '03 is the one with the Center Locking Differential. If you don't know what it is you probably don't need it. I know what it is and I haven't needed it yet, but I have used it. The '03 still has ETC which I have found to be useful.
You may want to have the brakes checked. When I purchased my '04. I guess the person before me was a brake rider and they needed to be replaced at around 30k. The worn pads caused the brakes to squeal and activate the infamous Christmas tree. It started out only happening when the brakes were cold. If you hit the brakes and it hurts your ears have them put new brakes on.
Sounds like you're buying from a dealer but still check for the Jack in the engine bay, probably never used and the tools should be in the cargo pocket in the rear door.
There is a 6 Disc changer located under the seat, be sure they give you the magazine or you won't be listening to any CD's on the way home.
Also check for serviceable wipers front and rear. If the vehicle has been sitting in the sun for a long time, perhaps a couple of moths they can become brittle and literally start falling apart.
Ensure all the washer jets work, including the ones for the head lights.
Check the tires. I had to change out the original wranglers at 36k, due to wear and cupping. Good because I got to upgrade to NITTO TG's.

If I think of anyting esle I will let you know but enjoy the Disco

fyi,

to clarify, the '03 DOES NOT have the center diff lock feature (no handle and no nipple on the transfer case)

thanks

Thank you all so much for the replies! I will write down everything you all say and thoroughly check those things on my own after the "certification"... Anymore information that you all can think of will be of great great help!! Have an awesome week and I will check in with you all once the truck has been purchased! Lets cross our fingers that it turns out to be a great vehicle!!

Thanks again
