Post Newbie with questions

I have a 99 Discovery II Series (Pugmere). I don't know what the Pugmere means, could someone explain. My second question is that my vehicle overheats after driving for an extended period of time. The hose and t-stat have been replaced, but it continues to overheat. I have seen other comments posted about this, but I was wondering if the answer to those post would be the same for mine, please help.

Thanks a bunch

Never heard of Pugmere.. not something from the LR factory.. what makes you think its a 'pugmere' edition?

It is on the back under the series II label. The care was originally from Maryland I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

Thanks for the reply!

Pugmere is probably the local dealership name

A Discovery 2 engine is a strong old thing, and you can go a fair distance before starting to see signs of over-heating. Is it a V8 or TD5??
To put in perspective how strong Land Rover engines REALLY are, I did 400 miles from London on the way to the Alps, and my radiator top-hose was left loose after a service, and I eventually had NO coolant left whatsoever.....but the temp gauge did'nt even budge one bit!!!
These vehicles ARE built to go to the ends of the earth!!!

If your thermostat has been checked, has it been tested??

Sounds like perhaps a head gasket gone, or hopefully not.....a cracked head....mucho $$$ if it is.

If it is your head gasket, a LR engine is quite forgiving, and you may still be ok, if you dont rack up an enormous amount of miles.

As for Pugmere....there is nothing from Land Rover (at least in Europe) to come out of the factory by that name. My guess would be it is a dealership logo and NOT an edition of some description.
There is a 4x4 dealer in Georgia called PUGMIRE, could it be that perhaps??

Martin

I would have the overheating issues looked into and drive the trucks as little as possible until that is solved. Overheating these motors is a very destructive thing five minutes of overheating can cause a host of problems i.e. warped heads cracked heads dropped liner on a cylinder.

and with a disco II in america you have a gas v8 no diesel option here.
