Hello can anybody help me identify where the nut on the pic belongs.
by the color of it looks like it belongs somewhere inside the engine..
I cant find where it goes after I replaced the oil pump, the timing chain and gears.
ID is about 12mm and fits a 21mm socket.
Thank you
In that size range, on the front of the engine, the only thing I can think of is a nut off the back of one of the idler pullies.
Is all that was done was pulling the belt driven accessories and the front cover? You have recently been posting about quite a bit of other work inside the engine.
Hi CT090,
You are correct, that is why I am worried, I also removed the oil pan and the connecting rods to replace the piston rings. However I had separated all the parts from the front in a different box.
I could have misplaced it when I wash them but I still not remember nor noticed a place for it while reassembling all the internal parts. It does look like a nut for an idler or a shaft as is grade 8 and half the width of a regular nut.
Hopefully It could had been left from a previous mechanic I also found a 7/8 wrench under the radiator
I'm at a loss. If it's clean it would lead you to believe it was inside the engine, but there's nothing that big inside the engine, fastener-wise. The main caps, but they are bolts. If it were laying around, it would have rusted or be caked in grease.
Thks ArmyRover!
Gone back and forth over the manual and it just doesn't seem to belong to this engine.
I'm going to cross my fingers and hopefully fire it up this pm.
