Default o2 Sensor Issue??

So I think I might have another issue as well. What would cause the o2 Sensor to be almost completely black on the end when you pull it from the exhaust? Is something burning to rich? Just for your information, I recently replaced the o2 Sensors before the cat, and the passenger side recently through a CEL after about 14-15 days of installation, when I pulled it from the vehicle, it was completely black on end, so I put the old one back in so I could attempt to return the new one for warranty. The warrantied the one I had purchased two weeks ago, and when I replaced it this weekend, the original one was starting to get black as well, about 30% of it was black? WTF....when I pulled these from the car, they appeared normal, and I only replaced them because I was told you should around 60K. I pulled the driver's side just to check it, and it was fine, looks like this is only happening on the passenger side.

Any ideas??

Have you pulled your plugs on that side to see what they are doing? Have you replaced your factory plug wires, what plugs are you running?
Have you had anyone do a scan on your O2's to see if they are within specs?
Normally you don't rplace the O2's until 90 to 120,000 miles, to bad you got the wrong information on that.
What was the fault code when you had it checked? Have you considered a bad head gasket, just a thought.
Has your engine been idling and running OK, how about your gas mileage?

Mike:

I haven't pulled the plugs to see what is going on. I replaced spark plugs and wires about 5K ago, with Bosch Double Platinum and Magnacore wires. Haven't done a scan on the o2's yet, would that be something that the dealer does? I believe the fault code was in regards to the vehicle running lean. Engine was running okay when the CEL came on, it was only at IDLE where it felt like it was slightly chugging. I noticed the problem crept up about 14 days after putting it in the truck and using Land Rover Fuel Conditioner/Cleaner. Let me know....

See if you can find a shop with an Auto Logic scanner or a test book, they both can scan all the engine functions while running.
If need be call Auto Logic at 1-800-533-2210, they have a locator service that will tell you who the closest shop to you with their product.
Let me know how it goes.
