Default Oil recommendations

OK, now I know this has been debated a million times on the forum, with some strong opinions, but what are we using and how long have we been using it, I have 95k miles on a DII - shop uses 10w 50 synthetic blend. I'm going to do the changes myself with a K&N filter and either Castrol 10w 40 blend, or maybe Valvoline Maxlife 10w 40 dino juice(great experience with American cars with this) thoughts ?

Also if the Rovers oil has to be ACEA A1 compliant, what's A2,3 and 4 ??

thanks.

A1 was probably the standard when your rover was build (that's what my 00 calls for), the A2/3 supersede the A1 standard so any of those should be fine. I personally use Rotella 15w40 in the summers and have had good luck with it so far.

search is the key to all your questions... So this debate doesn't have to waste anymore bandwidth

Yea, I tried that search when I had questions about oil and it was a bitch to find anything. Just using the word "OIL" found nothing. Using "oil change" found a lot on changing everything but oil. I forgot what combo of words found it, but it took a good 10 min and a lot of cursing on my part. I have found it difficult to search for many things as the obvious words don't seem to find it. At least not using the words I would Google to find the same thing.

What is nearly as important is the filter and the frequency of your oil changess. If you use a Good filter like a Mobil 1-301 of a K&N 3001, changing the oil evrey 3000 miles, you really don't need to loose too much sleep worrying about your oil and weight, go with a popular name a nd go wheeling.

I use Royal Purple 15w 40. It stopped my leak, so I will be sticking with it.
