Default Opinion Poll

I am currently looking at two different disco II's, ones a 2000 SE w/ 110,000miles for $6000 and the other is a 2002 SE with 60,000miles for $8000. I have looked at both in person and cranked them both up but being new to the Land Rover line wondering what i should be looking for in general to see which one is a better buy. I know the 2000 has CDL while the 2002 does not which in the long run would be better since the disco would be a weekend toy and not a a daily driver i have a saturn for that. thanks

Which one feels better and more solid to you ??? I would tend to go with the one with less mileage. Escpecially since there's quite a difference. You can always swap the t-case with one that accepts cdl if you want it.

Go with the one you like best. Dive under and check for leaks.

I'm with Steph...less is typically more when it comes to mileage. Take a flashlight and a digital camera and get back to us!

Default I've got an 02

I've got an 02 and love it. No CDL but... Wasn't the ABS modulator updated at some point??? I've heard of the problems with the modulator on the Early Disco's, Shuttle valve and what not. Was there any change? Not hijacking the tread but that would be useful information to know for your purchase.

I'm a little partial to the '00s myself...................but I do have to agree that 60k is less risky than 100k.
The question is, are you going to use it to off road any or is this going to be strictly a street car? If you don't plan on using it to off road much (or any) than the advantage of an '00 is pretty much out the window. I have an '00 with over 120k on the odo and have had no major issues, but have kept it maintained also. Does either one have service records included?

I'd go for the one with less milage myself. I was going to buy a 1999 SII with almost 300,000km on it. I spent $2,800 more and bought a 2002 with 126,000km on it. After Land Rover replaced every gasket in the engine free of charge, I got a smokin deal.

You can add a CDL for $500 or less if you look in the right places.

I told my wife if the Land Rover goes, so do I. That shut her up.
