I have a 2002 Disco II. A while ago, my check engine light came on and I was faced with all of the problems associated with a bad o2 sensor.
I scanned it with my handy OBD II scanner and sure enough, it indicated a pad front bank II sensor (passenger before converter.) I was in a rush so I headed to AutoZone to see if they had one, I had to order it... but I got my part. It was a BOSCH 15175 o2 sensor. I replaced it. It ran perfectly for about a month, then my check engine light came on and I was faced with all of the problems associated with a bad o2 sensor...again. Frustrated, I just assumed I had a bad sensor. I returned it and they gave me another one. I put it in and it ran perfectly. Then, in about a month.... the same thing happened again. I don't know what the problem is. I've got a few theories, but am almost convinced that all of my theories are bad...
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have 4 codes, which I forgot to write down, but will post in the next 24hrs when I see them again. Thanks |

I would try to order your sensor from Atlantic British. Unless you have the right sensor already?

My original codes were:
1590,0150,0174,1174 - this indicated a front right o2 sensor. I swapped sensors, as advised, reset my codes and got: 1590, 0171, 1129, 0130, 1171 this indicates a front left 02 sensr, I think. I'm planning on ordering another one and returning my two bosch's to Autozone. Let me know if anyone thinks I am barking up the wrong tree on this |

I have a '00 Disco II. For the past 2.5 years, I have been having a similar issue. My Service Engine light keeps coming on and indicating fault codes revolving around the O2 sensors and indicating a problem in the right bank with lean condition. Most recently, the codes were P1170 and P1173. I have brought it to the dealer, then 2 local land rover specialists in CT and evenutally Rovers North in Burlington, VT. Those shops have collectively replaced every O2 sensor (numerous times), the catalytic converter (numerous times), the mass airflow sensor, the purge valve, and even replaced the fuel injectors temporarily for test purposes and the problem is still recurring.
Next step is to check the engine wiring harness and potentially replace the ECU, both of which are expensive solutions. Has anyone dealt with this? My vehicle has stumped the supposed experts. I am thinking it is haunted. |

actually I would have smoked the entire system.
heres a trick get a new oil filter and put it into the air cleaner hose after the maf sensor. the vehicle will run for a moment and the air leak will make a whistle and you can listen to where the leak is coming from.
