Default Passenger Side AC Question

The passenger side AC in our 2002 Disco SE7 seems to not be blowing quite as cold of air as the driver's side. We have rear AC, but we hardly ever use it at all.

Are there seperate freon tanks for each side? Does each side have it's own compressor? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong??

my 2000 has temp control for both sides ( driver side and pass. side). Have you made sure that they are both set at the same temp.????

My a/c blower is working intermittently again. I wonder if these issues are somehow interrelated?

Yes Mike it happens at all speeds.
The compressor engages and the digital interface lights up. But neither rear nor front will blow on the ocassions when it fails. The failure is becoming more frequent, leading me to believe that it will alltogether fail one day.

When the fans shut off, will the compressor shut down at the same time? How long before it comes back on?

When the fan shuts down the compressor continues to work.
Earlier everything appears to be working well, until I turned on the rear unit. The rear unit blower failed to engage and at that very moment the front stopped blowing.
I will see what happens when I return to start the truck.

I just went out and looked at my under hood fuse box and found there is what I believe to be a small yellow relay for the a/c. I am thinking you may be overheating the relay, could be failing, might want to consider replacing it.

Most excellent.
I will look to replace that relay ASAP. Considering how helter skelter the problem has been, this certainly looks like an appropriate place to start.

As usual, Thanks Mike.

Default Help Disco Mike

If default codes 21 and 22 say the following:

"Open or ground short circuit" and

"12V short circuit"

Does that mean it is just a fuse???

21 and 22 are codes that need to be cleared by shinning a bright light on the solar sensor, or retesting out in the bright light. Once cleared do a full retest.

Mike,

Finally got the Disco out in full sun and then "cleared" the codes. I then cut the vehicle off and ran the test again. This time it came back up as FC OO, meaning as far as I can tell that everything is normal. However, the passenger side still doesn't seem to be quite as cold as the drivers.

My aircon did the same thing at the end of last year and this was the fist sign that the system needed to be regassed. There was a small hole in one of the pipes which the refrigerant was leaking out of. This could be a similair situation to yours.
