Hey, Thanks, Color is called Coniston Green, wich is usually found on Defenders and apparently also on older D1s. My dealer said that I'd be lucky to find another one this color in North america. I guess it makes it even rarer than a G4
I used medium duty in the front, for I do not plan to install a mega bumper or winch, (I'm already set-up for a hitch mounted winch in the back), and medium heavy duty springs in the rear, cause I have the 7 passenger option and do not want the Disco to squat when the seats are occupied. The tires I used are General Grabbers AT2 size 265/70R16 that are larger than other tires the same size, with a diameter of 30.9 inches. As far as power goes, I really did not notice any loss. M.P.G, well, I'll let you know in a few weeks. I was very pleasently suprised at how smooth the ride is, for this was one of my main worries. It actually rides smoother than before probably helped by more meet around the rim. So for those who are afraid to loose comfort by switching to coils, don't be. One of my biggest suprise came from the fact that my wife actually told me the truck looks a lot better like that. Steph. |

Well, before switching, I did tons of research. The main reason is the reliability factor.
With coils, nothing can go wrong. With the SLS, the bags can leak, the hoses can be damaged, or (like what happened to me)the pump can go Kaput. The only thing you'll loose, is the self leveling of the suspension. Comfort wise, As I've specified, I am very picky and was very afraid to end up with an harsh ride wich did not happen. I was also afraid to get the sting bug look, due to the fact that I got medium duty front and medium heavy duty rear coils, and as you can see on the pictures, the truck is perfectly leveled. When you do it, make sure you install the A springs on the driver's side, and the B springs on the passenger's side. You'll know by the little stickers that are attached to the springs. No one told me about that and I took them off without paying attention to them and had to redo the front end to level the vehicle cause the B spring is about 1/2 inch shorter than the A ( and believe me, the shock in the spring front set-up, is a pain in the butt to work with and taking it off and on again was not a treat). Now it's perfectly leveled side to side. When you get the coil compressors, make sure you get the ones that go on the outside of the coils. Having the wrong tools didn't help at all. Steph. |

Hey, I could have edited my previous reply, but I'm here to learn and want to make sure no one makes the same mistake I did. I just got off the phone with my LR service manager to get an appointment for the SLABS ECU reset to cancel my SLS.
I told him about having the hardest time with the front shock in the spring set-up up front that I had to do twice..... He told me that all I had to do was remove the shock tower ( a couple of bolts on each side) from under the hood, install the coil and simply slide the shock in from the top and reinstall the tower!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Althought you need to unbolt the abs box on the left and the coolant bottle on the right, doing it this way becomes a walk in the park. So let me stand corrected. But you still need the right coil compressor. ![]() |
