Hello everyone!!!!
I have a 1999 discovery II with 132K on it. Two months ago my check engine light came on, I took it to local autoparts and they told me it was trowing codes, P0102- Mass or volume air flow low input P1884- Dont know... So l bought the mass air flow sensor and before a changed took it again an the codes that threw were same P0102 and P1884 and a new P0340-(Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit (Bank 1 or single sensor) So then replaced the mass air flow sensor and run the scanner again and the P0102 and P1884 were gone!! After a week or so i purchased the camshaft position sensor since it was the last code that it was trowing, wish i replaced last sunday and the light didnt go off. So yesterday i went and purchase a (actron OBD II pocket scan code reader) and scan the system my self and guess what???? I have codes P0102 and P1884 again!!!! Can any body give me any ideas or had the same problem???? And thanks in advance for any advice..... ![]() |

Did you disconnect the negative battery lead to clear the codes? You should do that, that is the universal way of clearing codes from the computer.
If for some reasone that doesn't work, does your scanner have the ability to clear codes? If so try that route.

Pat,
You can't clear a hard code set on a OBD2 system by pulling the power on the computer, bad advice to give out cause beside the fact it won't help, now they will need a radip code and if it were a Rangie, they would have to rest the rear windows, maybe the A/C system and God only knows what else. You might want to try and clean the sensor wire with some of Radio shacks best contact spray cleaner, you might save it. Go back to paper and consider yourself lucky that you found out why it is happening before you spent too much more money. Mike |

I apologize for giving out the bad advice.
This is usually what I was told, but then again, I have to remember this is a totally different type of computer system; OBD II. When I unplugged my MAF one day to clean out the Throttel Body and intake boot, I put everything back together, and forgot to plug the sensor back in, and it threw the CE light on the dash. I turned off the truck, and plugged the sensor back in. CE light was still on. I disconnected the negative for 15 seconds, plugged it back on, and the light was gone. No codes were thrown in the little display under the passenger seat. But mine is a 94, not even OBD I even, so did I do anything wrong here? There has been no effects, and this happened like back in January a month after getting the truck. ![]()

If it were mine, I would take it off, wipe out the barrel of the sensor with a paper towel, put it back on the hose, install a somewhat used paper air filter in place of the K&N and go see the Rover dealer. If they don't pick up on the fact that you were using a K&N filter, they might replace it for you. Make sure you wipe out the air box of any oil also, cause they will look. You might even go drive around and get a little dust on the filter and air box before you go in so it won't look like you just cleaned it up. Mike |

oh wait.. you have 132k miles on your truck .. when you said 'warranty', Mike assumed you meant the Land Rover warranty.. you meant the warranty on the part itself from the manufacturer.. that's all up to the manufacturer... bottom line is that another aftermarket part that you installed (K&N air filter) caused the MAF to fail, so that is grounds for them to deny the warranty.
