I just bought a Land Rover Discovery II Series about a year ago and I am having major problems with it. The "check engine light" has been on for months. We have serviced it regularly and got a diagnostic test that indicated that we needed to change the ignition coil. We changed this (all two parts) and still no change. We have to start the car in the morning and let it run for about 5 - 10 for it to warm up (sometimes having to restart). Also, while driving you are constantly losing acceleration, in fact at times the car accelerates when you release the gas pedal. If you are on a straight stretch of road and accelerate quickly the jeep would start jerking.
Don't get me wrong, the jeep is driving, it just has no takeoff, it drags, and it sometimes stalls (not cutting off). The check engine light is still on along with the TC light and ABS light.
First off go to Auto Zone or Advanced auto parts to get the codes read and then post them. As for the abs tc and hill decent, those are called the three amigos, do a search on them.

When I got the diagnostic test done I was given the following codes: P0300, P0301, P0302, P0308, P0734, P0733, P1668, P1536 and P1536. This was done in mid August.
The mechanic recommended that we change the brake pads, ignition coils, spark plug wires and the lower ball joint.
Since August we have changed the spark plug wires and the ignition coils and still no change. The car is still jerking and losing acceleration.
First quit going to that fool of a mechanic, unless you just like spending money.
Second, go get your codes cleared tomorrow and when they return get us what ever fault code numbers are current. We can't do anything with out current info.
