Hi all,
I have noticed over the past week that there is a small 'pool" of fluid on the interior if my driver's side rear wheel... I am assuming that this is a leak from the rear end, possibly a seal gone bad... Anyone have any experience in wheel hub disassembly and/or repair? I am assuming it is pretty straight forward, as long as I am willing to get dirty... Oh yeah, no indicator lights have popped up, whew, knock on wood... Thanks, Jonathan '03 Disco HSE7 w/ACE and SLS |

I wonder why that is. Oh, I almost forgot it's a Rover. It would make too much sense to just replace a .95 cent o-ring.... Nope, you're going to have to buy a new hub for $350.00. I'm guess the hub wears from stress and might warp?

When I was pulling everything out, I noticed the leak was not coming between the tube and the hub, oil trail was originated between the axle flange and the hub body, where things rotate. It is not just the hub wears but the hub itself has seals in it. I just hope this is the last thing I have to fix for awhile. |

sorry to hear that mine was a bit different, when i took mine apart the hub assembly and bearings were in good shape. the orings were clearly damaged. If you need to replace the hub assembly roverlandparts has them for under $200.00 with the ABS sensor. Good Luck.

I wish I knew of Roverland.com before I pulled the trigger.
I ordered the hub from Atlantic British this morning. It should get here by Wednesday. I will let you know how it turns out. BTW it is random but the dealer wanted $18 for 4 bolts and nuts for the front Dshaft. WTF. I thought some American Car dealers were bad, LR dealers are worse. ![]() |
