Default Power window has power but....

No window.

last night my driver side power window went down, but never came up.
I can hear the motor running so I know it's not that.

has anyone encountered this before? is it that the window is off of the track?

or is it some plastic gear that might be broken.

I wanted to ask before I took of the door card.

also is there any simple way to take off the door card?

Help.

Default How hard?

I've taken the door card off my Disco before. How hard is it to replace the regulator? What tools?

I am not sure what regulator part is mentioned above. When mine stopped working, I found it was a busted slider. Dealer said they did not sell the part and tried to sell me an entire regulator. I took a plastic slider for a 300SD Mercedes window regulator, split it in half, ground one half down slightly, and used it. Worked like a charm. Never had another problem.

The Regulator Is The Scissors Unit And A Large Phillps And 8, 10 Mm Sockets . Not To Hard Maybe An Hour Total. The Gear Comes Unwelded From The Mechanism.

I had the same thing happen except that I also heard a loud metal thump. That turned out to be the gear that the motor moves to actuate the regulator. there are three small spot welds that failed. I drilled them out and riveted the gear back in place. The window has been perfect since.

But most likely the others are correct and you will need to replace the regulator

Good Luck
Shawn

Can someone tell me hw to get the door panel off and get to the regulator ? I have one day before the 4th of July to get the part and window bak up before I go out of town. Any directions, manuals or pictures would help a lot.

Thanks in advance
