Im just wondering if changing the filter and fluid for the ace system is something that should be done fairly often? How often do you guys think it should be done? How about the tranny fluid? Differential fluid?
oh and the truck has around 135k

Mike, do you have your service book/owners manual? It will list when that systems need to be serviced. I'd look in mine for you but I just dropped it off (the truck with the manuals in it) at Downtown Jag/LR.

Mike,
Depending how hard you are on your wheeling, I would suggest changing the fluid every 30,000 miles I chnage mine every 20,000 miles cause I tend to push mine pretty hard. The filters are real expensive at about $65 and only need to be done at the 30K and then every 90K afterwards. I also have found that using Vavoline's synthetic power steering fluid and a bottle of Lucas power steering additive really keeps the sytem quite and very effective. E-mail me if you want to learn how to service it and not pay the $150 plus that the dealer charges. Mike |

Mike if you have any question on how to change the ACE fluids get back to me later today and I'll walk you thru it, what ever you do, do not remove a ACE hose to drain the system.

yeah the only 2 records in the book were at like 57k and 67k at a dealer. I think I better change the stuff. I got a repair manual off of ebay for like 10 bucks and its amazing! Its like having 10 chilton manuals on a disc (plus a lot of other stuff). Just print off what I need, get it dirty and throw it away when Im done. It may be a burned cd but I dont care frankly. Id highly advise anyone here who doesnt have this tool to get it:
(Im not affiliated with the seller, though I did buy it).

So Mike, if you do as per the manuel, you will need to have the dealer recalibrate the system, you might want to contct me so I can give you direction for the easy way. If you can't find any paper work showing the ACE filter being changed, you may want to shop around for one.
