Wow talk about depreciation....I got mine little over 6 years ago with 32,678 miles and paid 7 times more than $2,000. Relatively speaking, 3 - $4,000 is a fantastic price properly equiped, condition etc....

Default The hunt continues...

Went to visit the truck in Atlanta today (didnt make it up to TN due to all of the rain ). He didnt have the one I was looking at online but he had a '00 of which I THOROUGHLY enjoyed driving. Consequentially, I have pretty much made up my mind that 99-01 Disco II is the way to go. My search continues though bc the dealer sold the '99 I was looking at and I'm not willing to pay more than $3-$4K. ($4K if it's in top notch condition)

the hunt continues. i travel frequently for my job so im casting a pretty wide net looking for the right truck. ironically one of the members on this forum with a used 99 for sale is in the same state as me but i havent had a chance to get out and check the truck out. ive definitely made my mind up that LR is the way to go just comes down to finding the one for me. That being said i get envious every time i see one out on the road. I cant wait to update this thread with a "mission complete".

It pays to be patient on this one..99 is the best year (I think) Be cautious about maintenance by the previous owner. Most are sold to avoid the big repair looming around the corner...Head gaskets....By it from an avid LR owner if you can, not a mall crawler that got neglected.

99-early 01s all seem to be good. If it is an 01 however just be sure it has the CDL. You will want it!

I bought my 2001 Disco II with 119,000 on it. It now has 148,000 and it in great shape. I think the trick is being very patient and asking all the right questions. I looked at 15 different trucks over a 4 month period. I finally found my mine on Craigslist here in the St. Paul, MN area. It was owned by a couple who did all the right service and really cared for the truck. So far I have only had to replace the clock light and the diff gasket. I am amazed and very pleased. All I can advise is take your time and be wary of trucks that have been "used" a bit too much. And only on personal experience, "avoid anything with a snorkel." If it has it on the truck, its probably been used at least once. NOT GOOD.
