I smelled some coolant odor on my truck and took it to the dealer. They told me that my radiator was leaking and I needed to replace the whole thing. I then too it to my local mechanic and he said that the leak was coming from the timing gasket cover. Does this mean that I do not need to replace the radiator

This means you need to go have your mechanic do a coolant pressure test to verify where the leak is coming from. Once you find out for sure, the get that replaced along with a new t/stat and radiator hoses if they haven't been replaced yet.
If it was is the radiator that is leaking, they can not be repaired and will need to be replaced. If you need one then check on E-Bay or on line, they can be found in the low $300 range. Mike |

Either the local mechanic is not familiar with Land Rovers, or the stealership likes $$$$$$. I have noticed in my dealings that the later is true. Who knows maybe both are leaking, one worse than the other. My 2 cents
