Question Rattle, rattle, rattle?

When I start my 99 Disco II it runs without any problems. It seems that after the vehicle warms up it rattles when I am at a stop light or after I have put it in park. While I am accelerating there is not a problem, it does not make noise.

I do feel this rattle slightly on the bottom of my feet(drivers side). Any ideas where to start the search for this problem?

I had to replace the spark plugs last night. It is running better, of course all cylinders firing will tend to have this effect. The plugs looked clean without any problems, just old. I do not feel that this rattle is coming form the engine. But I am definitely looking for experienced advice.

Could be the catalytic converter.

dvldogduke - check out bernardmanns post - could just be the drivers side heat shield.

Heat shield and or Cat, usually the cat.
Before you replace the cat, make sure you found out what killed the cat or it will haqppen again real quick with a new one.

Default Thank you

Thank you all for posting responses. I will get under the vehicle when the weather gets out of the teens and low 20s. It is supposed to be in the 40s on Wed and Thurs. Perfect weather for laying on the concrete in my driveway, not.

Mike, could the problems that I had with the misfires in the cylinders, in my other post cause a problem with the cat? It seems like everything is on the left side. I am very glad the plugs came out clean.

I read another post that said excess gas could get in the cat and cause extreme heating that melted the internals.

I have never dealt with a cat, the type of mechanical work I am used to was a 68 International Scout(no cat)

Yes, your rough running engine is most likely the problem. Excess gas, oil and or coolant will kill a cat.
