So... I've been having a lot of discussions with my parents about my baby. We have been through a lot with it and they believe it would be better if I sold her.
![]() First off, I just wanted to thank everyone who belongs to this forum. You all are amazing people, who love LR's... ![]() Secondly, it is up to me to sell her, and.. well.. I want to know how much she could be sold for. I went to the Kelly Blue Book website and I can get between $20,000-22,000 without advertising the warranty. This is my baby... She is a 2003 Land Rover Discovery SE7 44,XXX miles... mainly highway miles Black Leather Interior LR Navigation/CD player Cold Weather Package (Front and Rear Windshield Defrosters) Heated Seats H/K Sound System Self-Leveling Suspension Active Cornering Enhancement LR Running Boards LR Roof Rack ...plus an awesome extended warranty by "Total Protection Plan" that we paid $2006.00 extra for. She has had every service done except the upcoming 45,000 mile service. I would like to list her between $21,000-$24,000. What do you all think? I wanted to come to you all first because of your vast knowledge. Again, it has been a absolute pleasure being a member of this forum. May God Bless You and... Happy Rovering! ![]() John-Robert

You can list it for what you want but that seems pretty high. Look at what local car lots are selling them for and adjust your price accordingly.
Good luck with your sale.

You should check out BVLR.com or go to edmunds and put in all the options on your vehicle and get an estimate. I think Bear Valley Land Rover is more real world pricing though. How long have you had it? That options list is long fully loaded except for the CDL that most people other than Rover fans won't notice. Sounds like you got a bad or a neglected vehicle. With the problems I've seen from some of your post's I'd say take it to CARMAX or somewhere and let them sort it out. Then take that money and get something else, may be another Disco without so many bells and whistles, No SLS, No ACE, no HK. Or you could try your luck with P38. I've seen some well maintained classics on BVLR coming out of Atlanta, that look pampered, not rust, nice paint, pristine interior. I'd say for a 2003 the price is a little high even with all the options. 21k would probably be the max for a private sale without the warranty. You could throw it in to sweeten the deal. If you've got such a sweet extended warranty why sell it. I'd say first I'd get every penny I could out of it. Even if it is a pain in the but once it's sorted you might start to like it again. If you sell take off the roof rack, and sell seperately.

Hey everyone..
I can see were each one of you are coming from in terms of price and in terms of keeping it. My parents just see it as really really expensive to maintain. Every little thing needs to go into the shop and and living in Deep South Texas, there is only one dealership within a 400 mile radius and maybe 3 independent shops that aren't very close either. I mean, I bought spark plugs and wires from someone Disco Mike referred to me, with every intention of doing it myself... while trying, i realized I couldn't do it.. I called around, and so did Mike to see how much it would cost to install them and it was around $360.00...just to install them!! I've got an excellent warranty, but I'm also a college student who needs the car, and I can't afford to have it sit at the dealership for a week. I've looked around on cars.com and on Ebay and on average, for the options I've got it's about $20,000. I wasn't quite sure if I could add $2,000 dollars because of the warranty, and that's where I got the higher price from. Again, you all are amazing, and I appreciate everything you all do! John-Robert

Good Luck! Hopefully we'll catch you lurking.
I also got plugs and wires on Disco Mikes advice. I also thought at first that I could not change them as I did not want to take off the intake manifold. I did not want to remove anything that had fluid coming out of it, just personal preference. I tried there times to change the plugs and wires. It took me 3hrst to change one. I then took 1/2 hr to replace it with the original. Then kept hunting for more options. Local mechanics either said they couldn't touch it because they were afraid to break it or wanted $200 to change the wires, I supplied. I kept searching and found I could remove the Seconday Air Injection tubing that blocks access to the coil. after removing about 3 clamps that sucker came out with a little gentle convincing. Then I squeezed my had back there and change them. I had to do it twice as I crossed one of the wires and new immediately what was wrong thanks to the forum. I traced every wire back fixed the problem, and it was all good. The vehicle doesn't have to go to a LR specialist for things like brakes and general maint, just someone that know what they are doing or at least an honest effort. The shop that told me they could not replace the wires I still go to for oil changes 5th one is free. I say all that so that you won't be discourage in the future. I do understand you position . I had to say it but Honda's are good worry free cars. It takes effort to killl a Honda and every one can work on them. I hear good things about VW's with the diesle engines, good if you can find one.

03 plugs must be a pain ... changing in my 01 was the easily fix on the Disco I have done so far. Was even able to ejoy a few cold drink during the process.
Some advice... go on ebay and get the Land Rover workshop manual. Then read before you attack. The knock off CD cost me about $6 |

no... when doing the spark plugs I check them pretty good... came off easily w/ no corrosion on the tips @ the plug and the boots and insulation looked in good shape. From your post I have a feeling I'll have a fun day getting to know my Disco when the time comes
