Ok so after two broken bolts and a headache here I am.
I've been trying to remove the centralising pin so I can replace a leaking rear pinion oil seal. I built a device out of a harmonic balancer remover and some nuts to help remove the centralising pin. I got it about 2mm out and it stopped moving. I've tried heating the pinion with a propane torch, used penetrating oil, looked online and in the forum and the only thing i can find is someone suggested using a slide hammer to get it out. Has anyone successfully removed this without taking it to a shop? |

wow, you know it only pays around .8 to replace the seal. we have two devices for the job. First after removing the driveshaft we have a device that goes in the slot of the flange and you slowly turn it out. the next one after installing the seal, holds the flange while you retorque the bolt to the proper specs.
you do know you probably killed the seal and the bearings inside the pinion and most likely the diff right. wow, you really cut your nose off on that one.
