Default Replace Your Thermostat !!

Ok....I ignored all the warnings. 2004 Disco with 80,000 miles now...had not changed the thermostat as advised... The "lip" for the upper hose decided to disintingrate today while I was doing 60 MPH in the far left lane of a four lane freeway....bye bye coolant... I was able to rig the clamp onto the remaining stub and limp home after a good samaritan drove me to get coolant and water.
Man, the plastic that broke was so brittle. Do yourself a favor and check over your hoses and replace your thermostat if it has been too long.

The Dexcool will eat up the t/stat as well as the coolant pressure cap so yes, check and replace them at 60K and get rid of the Dexcool.

I hear a lot of people using Peak, I believe any of the better yellow or green coolants is fine. Still change them every 2 years and consider adding a bottle of either Water Wetter or Purple Ice to the system for better protection.
