Default Right rear squeaky or rubbing sound.

Installed the new OME Springs 2" HD, yesterday in the rear ( the fronts haven't arrived yet) Noticed today a sound similar to a brake squeak, or the sound when pads are shot and are grinding the rotors in the right rear wheel. Not consistent, but like a squeak , roll, squeak, roll, squeak, roll. I also noticed some grease build up on the back side of the rotor mud guard. Pulling the wheel off tomorrow to actually get a look, but could use some suggestions on what to look for. Perhaps a rear hub???

No codes

Appreciate ya'll

might sound foolish, but check your lug nuts for the squeaking.

Default Rear hub or wheel squeak

I'll be pulling the wheel as soon as it stops raining, and double check the torque on those as well.

Thanks

I have seen springs squeak a little when seating in but not on a rotational basis, sounds like brakes dragging. As for the oil on the back of the backing plate, could be a rear axle seal or caliper leak, visual should determine which it is.

Default Got lucky

When driving back from Birmingham this week a truck in front of me lost a tire and a piece of the rubber was stuck on the mud guard. It would rub on the wheel resulting in the squeak. I didn't see how the springs could have caused, as Mike said, a rotational noise. Rubber out, no noise. Got lucky this time. Wish the OME's would get here, looks kinda funny standing on her nose right now. I did find a used supplier on Ebay that had a hub for $100.00 bucks though at Specialized British Recycling.
