Well the surgery is over.
Turns out I had a leaky rocker cover gasket leaking over my plug wires. This caused my plug wires to arc. God, after a week of driving my wifes car, it felt great being up above the traffic line again in my Series II. I love driving that thing. New plug wires (stock) new champions spark plugs (my mechanic said the Bosch plat 4's could throw codes on my Disco. I know someone here has them, but i'm curious if they have had over a year of success running them code free(?) ). Had teh tranny serviced while it was in there. Not many metal shavings considering the 126K miles on my 2000. Sweet.. My mechanic showed me how to straighten my steering wheel by using a 13mm and 17mm box end wrench on this bar just under my front spoiler. I dont remember if he said turn towards me to turn the steering wheel towards the passenger side or drivers side. Two ways to find out. Later |

I am running Plus 4's, have been for the last 3 years and 50,000 miles, and have never coded. The trick with these plugs is they require lots of voltages and warn out factory wires or inexpensive replacements won't cut it.
With these plugs and a set of 8 mm. Magnacor wires I have more low end torque then I has at 30,000 miles when I had to change out some fried factory wires. Take care, Mike J. |

Mike,
did the 8mm Magnecores come with there own wire brackets? The stock ones on the Disco are only big enough for 7mm. Also, where did you buy your magnecores and were they called "racing plug wires? I tried getting some ordered last week but the two co's I called were worthless with info and time. Thanks M |

M,
When I installed my Blue 8mm. Magncor wires I was able to use the factory clips with no problem, they are snug but work well. There are many sites for the wires, I like www.roverconnection.com/ cause the also handle the Bosh Platiumn Plus 4 plugs that really give you some additional low end torque. Give it a try, good luck with the installation of the wires, it's a little tight back by the coils and can be done, usually with a six pack at your side. Mike J. |

Thanks a lot Mike, I really appreciate the knowledge.
For now I am going to get my moneys worth out of my new stock wires and plugs, but I will throw on the Mags and the Plat 4's next year some time when my odometer hits the 135-140 range on miles. Dios mio I hope I get to 200K miles before she needs open heart surgery. I have one more question for you Mike, but I will start a new thread. |

At 125K, your factory plug wires are not putting out near the voltage they did when new. Change them out sooner then later and you will notice sort of great improvement.
