Default Sais

Has anyone ever removed the SAIs gaggle from a DII? There are no emissions checks where I live.

That is both a state and federal emission device which legally can't be removed nor will you be able to sell the truck without it.
Besides, you can't get past the ECU.

OK. Thanks Mike. I suspected that but just wanted to double check. I might see if I can reroute a few things. Do the SAI tubes running behind the engine (yea, the ones right over the coil packs) have to be metal?

If you can find an ECU out of a non-SAI disco, then you can swap it out. But it's a decent bit of work.

I thought ECU's are not a plug-and-play interchangeable component?

Being a D2, he will also have to replace, I believe it is the BECU from the same vehicle, or it won't run.
Kevin, you going to make it to the club dinner next Tuesday?

Mike,
I'll be at work, so I won't be able to make it. I am probably heading to the mountains the next day though, which will be the perfect opportunity for me to try out my CDL in some deep snow.

Rodnok - If you figure out a way to completely remove the SAI, or to fool the computer into thinking it's there, by all means, do a write up because there's plenty of people out there that want rid of it.

With those parts removed, if they could be, you would not be able to sell the vehicle with out reinstalling them.

If you had an ecu for say a UK spec model without SAI,all you would need to do is a security relearn on Testbook. There may be Vin,GM and SA mismatches logged if the ecu was off another car but it will still run OK.

why dick around with something that was designed to reduce emmisions and basically make your vehicle run better.

if you have a problem with it running cause you broke the hoses instead of removing the plastic ones first oh well.
