I have read that it sometimes comes on and should clear after a few days.

The light will come on usually after pushing to much fluid to fast, usually it will go off after a 4 or 5 start cycles, if not, as already mentioned, it is off to the local auto parts store to get it cleared.
Did you also clean your t/body and iodle control unit?

I think that one the most important purchases one can make after buying a rover, is an OBD2 reader. For $150.00, you can get one that will give you the codes with its description and allow you to reset your computer. That way, no matter where you are or what time it is, you don,t have to rely on anybody else.

I thought that a standard OBDII reader was not very useful on the Discovery??? What's the consensus???

Nearly any OBD2 scanner will pull codes from Rover, the more expensive gives you alot of extra feature that most people won't use.

To clean the t/body, remove the air intake hose, pushing it off to the side, look inside the t/body, see all the black build up, spray it with carb spray, open the plate spraying on the back side, scrub with and old tooth brush and wipre out with some paper towel.
