Default Should I settle for Land Rover DII Leaks?

I have a 99 2nd Ed LR Disco. I begin to notice that I was leaking a good size puddle of "something" (6 inches in diameter) onto my driveway.
I thought it may have come from a "quick lube transmission fluid flush" I had done some months ago, but my mechanic said it was oil.
The funny thing is it smelled like transmission fluid. I could not tell as it was soaked into the pavement.
Either way - I take it to my mechanic and he puts dye in it, and takes it home and so forth. My mechanic (who I trust dearly) replaced the valve cover gasket and a vacuum hose.
Well..my truck is still leaking "something".

Should I try to identify the problem, or is this a lost cause?

It's your truck, you need to make that decision.
When the dye was installed in the engine what were the results? What color is the fluid, if you don't know use a paper towel and soak it up, smell it and what color is it.
If it were mine leaking as you describe I would degrease then engine and check it daily till you find where the fluid is coming from.
How many miles on your truck?

Identify it, but come to terms with your Leak Rover too.

See my thread I'll start in a second.

Hey I am the queen of leaks. Had mine repaired three times in less than a year and guess what? It's leaking again! Yeah! My mechanic Gordon told me when I took her in for brakes, " guess what? you have a leak." My response, " oh really? duh."

In my opinion I would stay away from quick lube places when it comes to anything other than oil changes. They are notorious for messing up peoples automobiles. Nevertheless, your Rover may leak every now and then and from what I have heard it is ok. I have a 86 Mustang GT and rear seal always leaks, its the nature of the beast and all is well. This goes true for the Rover.

Default Good News - It was Antifreeze

Well, finally, after taking it back to the mechanic, it was a simple antifreeze leak from the front top hose (it has a strange washer on it) that was causing the leak onto the body and onto the ground.
I did place a paper towel and it was redish.
The mechanic replaced the hose and now- no more leaks! (at least for now)

Thank you all for your input.

Don't get so frustrated with your truck so easily, after all it is a Rover and we do have to give them a little more lattitude for leaks and electrical glitches.
It is still worth it off the road.
