A snorkle is only the first step to getting your rover "water proofed". There are a lot more steps you will have to take to get it ready...however...I see guys all the time running there trucks and J33Ps through the water with no concern.....I keep thinking to myslef it won't be long until they lock up.

Here's some reading material to help get started

If you undo your air filter box on the Discovery II and have a look at the bottom of the airbox once the paper filter is removed, you will see a little drain hole.

This drain hole is to allow water that may have somehow entered the air cleaner box to drain out.

Unfortunately this drain hole doesn't have a one way valve, so if you submerge your vehicle deep enough and long enough, even with a snorkel fitted, your air cleaner box will start taking in water from this drain.

The solution is to fill that drain hole with some silicon. Obviously this means that if you DO get water into the air box, it'll take a LONG time for it to dry out.
