Default Special oil for axles ?

I have purchased my 2001 SE7 about a month ago and am loving it.

Question: What good oils for the axles are recommended by experienced Land Rover owners ?
The manual states "API GL5MTI fully synthetic - 75W/90R". Is this a common oil for axles or is there better stuff available ?

Any "gotchas" to know of before I change the axle oil ?

thanks in advance.

Personally I'd just go with what Land Rover recommend, anything else is basically overkill. Make sure that you can undo the 'filler' hole on the diff you want to empty, before you drain it. Good luck.

I agree and personally use the land rover fluids in my county....
not sure what he means by make sure you can get the plug out before you drain it... cuase if you cant get the plug out the fluid isnt coming out.... Changing the fluid is easy and you only need about three quarts to do both axles... Good luck FYI part number LRN7590....

"Disco" or "LLR219",
Quick question on this topic. How much oil is to be added ? Or is it up to the filler level ?

He was talking Bout FILER plug that is Plastic I belive . The drain plug is metal and has a magnet on the indise of it . make sure you clean that too .

I think in the manual said 1.8 quart's of Oil .

Yeah I did check if I can take that off , cause if that plastick strips and you really can't take it out , you would be scrued , cause You need to get a new one and mangle this one out . So I did that .
