Default spring conversion

I have rear SLS
I am thinking of switching to rear springs
I assume all I need are the bottom perches and the springs to make this happen?
Am I forgetting anything?

Everything on my rear SLS is working just fine, I just don't like the idea that something can go wrong and turn an off road trib bad!

Anyone in need of rear SLS parts?
I also have the RTE 2" spacers
the airbags are recent
let me know!

thanks

You have as good a chance of your engine or running gear failing off road as you do the SLS. Hate to see you switch over, PM me and let me know how much you want for your old parts.
Take care,
Mike

Default sls

One less system to worry about. Nobody can argue that! I actually like the SLS system. It's great when I carry heavy loads (I use the truck as a work vehicle; I loaded the rear up with bags of concrete once; handeld it like a champ!) and works great with a trailer, but ...... when it screws up it makes me insane!!
you do remember my water crossing issue!?
well I got everything working again, but I just don;t trust it anymore. It is not failsafe.

All I need is the bottom perches and the springs right?

As far as cost of the sls parts, i have not even decided if i will be doing this yet. I need to price out the conversion and figure out what my parts are worth. Just testing the waters on the forum to see what's involved.

Have you installed the 2" spacers? I was considering going this way but wound up with OME springs instead. Was wondering if with the 2" spacers plus 1.5" extended mode if you had to lengthen brake lines or ABS lines.

I installed OME 779 in the front and OME 763s in the rear plus OME N107/N108 gas shocks. These are really stiff springs but they seem to work OK on road. The combination of springs and shocks gives a much more stable ride, IMHO. They will not flex as well as softer/longer springs. I also installed a spring isolator on each side in the rear. Supposedly this lessens the noise transmitted from the rear axle to the body. It also gives you an extra 1/2" lift in the rear. You also have to take your truck to the dealer or an independent with the capability to set paramters in the ECU in order to turn off the SLS processing. EE has both isolators and spring perches.

There's a good writeup on DWeb in the tech section on SLS conversion.

A buddy or I might be keen on the 2" RTE spacers, if you decide to remove and go with springs.

Thanks for the info guys
sounds like all I need are the springs, perches, bolts, and isolators if i want them.

Do most people remove all the sls components? pump, hoses, etc? or just leave them there. I would think I should take them off the truck.

thjanks

You will also have to go have the shop go into your ECU and shut down the SLS system or it will plague you with problems.
As far as removing parts, I would remove the lines and pump also, there is always a market for them. What brand of bags are you running?

They were bought from the dealer just before I bought my truck
the truck had 80k on it
it now has 96k on it

The spacers are only a few months old
