Default SRS light

Well, I changed out my brakes with EBC rotors and pads(green). Flushed out the old brake fluid and went for a break in/test drive. Only about 50 miles into the new setup, but they feel great. Here's the problem, a few miles into it I noticed I had an SRS light.

I read on another thread in here that someone left their rover on over night and that is what caused it.

I had my son help me to bleed the brakes, so it took a while, about 30-45 minutes, I would guess. I wasn't really paying attention. I came to my first stop and decided to shut off the disco and restart. The light stayed off but came back on later while I was in town doing some erronds, now it's on all the time. I hooked up my scanner, but nothing shows.

Any help is appreciated.

Chris

Chris, if I am not mistaken you can only get rid of the SRS light with a test book at a stealership. I find it odd the SRS light came on. Are you sure it's SRS? I was reading that a drop in voltage could cause the SRS light to turn on.

Yep, it's the SRS, shining red. I went to turn off the heat/radio during the test run so I could listen for any noices. When I moved my hand, there it was.

Any advice since I don't have a dealership. There is one shop in town that will work on it, but I don't thind they have the LR testbook. I guess I'll call them tomorrow and find out.

I have the same problem sometimes , but I think what I have is more of a feature operations.

If I drive and I get up of the seat ( to get my walet out of my pocket ) the light will turn on cause the tranny is in D and I'm rolling while my ars is not on the seat .

Sure sometimes I start the truck with out me in it and the light will come on after about 2 min. of the truck running .

But under any other times it dose not come on . It only comes on when I'm not sitting in it

Your SRS light didn't come on because of any brake related work you did, it is just one of those weird timely things that happens. If you don't have a dealer near by there are other scanners, like the AutoLogic, that can read SRS codes.
Call Atlantic British at 1-800-533-2210 and ask them to give you the nearest location of a shop with the AutoLogic scanner.
Just so you know, when the light is on, it doesn't mean the bag may go off, it just means there is a problem and in an accident the system most likely won't activate.

good , i don't like the air bag . From looking at all the crash tests sometimes it cause more harm then good ( it makes your head to bounce into the B piler with the back of your head ) . Air bag there ( just for the b piler ) would be good . All I need is the seat belt and i'll be fine . I don't need to brake my nose by my own hand like two people i know did .

Thanks for the help. I called the import shop and they say they have the software to work on it, so we'll see.

I read my Rave manual and from what I can tell the light is on steady because the DCU is getting a no voltage signal from one of the four sources (driver airbag, pass airbag, driver seatbelt tensioner, or pass belt tensioner.

I'm sure none of them are cheap, but I haven't found a part on mine that is yet, and my mastercard knows it.

Check the yellow connector under each of the front seats. That is your seatbelt tensioner connection and it gets corroded pretty frequently. Unplug and plug it several times to try to remove the corrosion. Worked on mine as well as several others' D2's.
