Default staring issue...

Hi All,

Once again, I have searched the forum and cannot find my situation... Here it goes...

I decided to go camping this weekend and all was 100% well until yesterday morning... I went to start the Disco. so we could come home and it cranked, tried to start, and then went dead. I tried it again and bam, it started, but the idle was higher than normal (about 1400 rpm)... I didn't think much of it... I hooked up my 26', 5300lb trailer and came home...

So this morning at home, the same thing... No indicator lights have come on and it seems fine otherwise... I'm lost...

In my search, I did find some suggestions about the Crank Position Sensor... Should I just replace this part and what is it and where is it located on the engine... I'm going to Seafoam her tonight and clean the intake and such, but I wanted to get a head start on the information so I can make some purchases ASAP!

Thanks in advance!

BTW, the Disco. is an awesome towing vehicle, with the help of some sway control and stay under 70mph... Even uphill!!!!

Do you have a check engine light on?
Crank sensors don't always throw a code when they fail.
Is your drivers side v/c gasket leaking oil?
Don't worry about an induction clean or throttle body cleaning, good thing to do but won't help in this instance.

No leaks anywhere (knock on wood) and no check engine light, or any others... That's why I say I'm lost...

One thing that is different is the fuel level is below what I normally let it get to. I never let it get below 3/4 tank and it was at half when this started... I remember reading somehwere that fuel level can have some effects in these vehicles...

For as many crank sensors that fail every month between a number of the Rover fourms, I would lay my money on it.

Being the victim of a Crank sensor failing, I'd put Mikes and My money on it.

Another question...

I was poking around the engine looking for the sensor location, but was not certain I found it... Anyone care to point me in the right direction?

Back side of the engine below the cylinder head, so it is squeazed between the engine and the fire wall.

Well that sounds like it's going to be a fun project... How many times do you estimate I'll curse?
