Default Steel Bumper

had a fender bender (or a bumper bender) the other day and was less than impressed with the durability of my '03 dII's factory front bumper. i'd like to replace it with a steel bumper but i'm not sure which one. i know a lot of it is personal preference but i'm not sure who makes a decent aftermarket bumper/bull bar. i love the way the rovertym looks but i don't want to have to relocate the washer bottle or anything like that. plus, i think i need a full coverage bumper as it's my daily driver. i do a little off-roading but it's my commuter so i have to take this into consideration when i choose a bumper/bar. any suggestions, pictures, or links would be greatly appreciated.

ARB or TJM if I had your requirements.

RTE will make you a thicker bumper.
I just ordered one with the thicker style and the new style brush guard and headlight guards.

Here's a picture of the thicker bumper with the old style brush guard.
You can just barely see the washer bottle.
I don't want to relocate mine either.
So I am going to trim the old wheel well piece and try painting the bottle black.
May box it in if I don't like the way it turns out.

If you want to get creative, consider drawing up you own style and having it made.

I bypassed the cruch cans mounting the frame and reinforced all the mounts. I may take a little more to trigger my bgas, but boy, God help the person that gets in my way.

To be honest, if I had an 03-04 Disco, the only two Bumpers I would consider purchasing are RTE or an ARB Sahara bar. Then with the Sahara Bar, I would have the chrome bar repainted in a Matt Black

I was looking at the TJM as well.

I understand ther is a long wait for one write now, unless you find someone who as one in stock.

But I like that the winch is mounted higher on the RTE and there by easier to get to in a mud hole. Not that my rig would ever get stuck!
For the cost difference and the reviews that RTE gets I went with them.

I am hoping it will be here next week.

Steve

As Mike mentioned, you can have one made. This guy made mine for me. Kennesaw Mountain Accessories. (Look under Custom Projects for LR stuff.) It is mounted straight to the frame like Mike's - bypassing the crush cans. OHMIGOSH! I agree Mike, "I pity the fool" who gets hit with my bumper. I also like the higher mounting on my bumper for the winch.

They won't take much abuse/hard work, like winching, they tend to flex and twist alot.

I have had both the TJM and ARB on my 2000 DII and I actually preferred the looks of the TJM, but the ARB was built much better. The ARB bumper was so heavy it dropped the front of my DII by about a half inch, maybe three-quarters.

There are stronger ones out there, but not that I know of if you want airbag compliant. Either way, both are much better than the stock one.
