I finally got my '01 SE several months ago and I love, repeat, LOVE, my truck. However, I have noticed a couple things that I do not love.
First, my steering wheel shakes at around 50-60 mph - not before 50 and not after 60. It's not consistent, but very frequent. The dealer said they did not experience this when I took it in (imagine that) but recommended balancing the tires, which I did. It has not stopped the problem. Has anyone else experienced this and maybe has a suggestion I could relate to the dealer? I'm a real novice when it comes to auto repairs, so this a good learning experience for me. Have I mentioned how much I LOVE my truck?!? Thanks for all your help! Carol |

Carol.
Welcome to the site. As for your steering wheel shake, should be something as simple as a tire balance problem and a weak steering stablizer. Might also want to have some check the double cardon, constant velocity joint, on your front drive shaft, they are known to fail cause they can't be greased. Should have it rebuilt if it has not been done yet. Good luck. Mike |

Thanks! I appreciate the advice.
I'll contact the dealer tomorrow and ask them to check these out. Luckily, we are still under warranty, so I believe something like this should be covered. I have one other issue to ask about and I am creating another post about it. Thank you, thank you!! |

As for checking the balance, go to a good tire store, have them inspect, rotate if need be and balance the front tires, it will be much cheaper. Mike |
