Haven't posted in a while as my Disco has been off the road since March or so. After the HG replacement I cannot get the air out of the system. I've tried all of the suggested methods and have come up with the same issue, a Disco sitting in the driveway that needs to be on the road. I have elevated the tank. Attempted with the truck off/on and the cap off/on with no success. I have changed the oil and done the chemical test with nothing unusual. I'd hate to get rid of it but with the winter coming and the need for an awd vehicle to get to work, it's leaving me no option if I can't figure it out.
I recently had to do a water pump.
Firsttime I have had to belled my rover completely. Although I have done this procedure on countless vehicle in the past, It was a pain. but using a combination of overfilling the resivor, opening the upper hose bleeder and running and refilling it, it finally did bleed out for me.
I initially thought that the up hill slope of my driveway may be an advantage but I don't think it was. I ended up moving to level ground before I had any real success.
I think Running the heater on hot is a good indication of whether you are getting decent circulation.
Stick with it! It may overflow a couple times. Try running it at idle for roughly 3 minute intervals, shutting it off, opening the bleeder, filling the resivor until coolant comes out the bleeder, close the bleeder and repeat. Feel for warm air from the heater vents and monitor coolant temp. Data
I've got hit air from the vents and overflow from the hose when filling. The main issue is the water noise in the dash meaning air somewhere in the system as I'm sure you know.
