Default Strange coolant leak..!!

Today while i was running around, i kept catching a faint wiff of coolant. Wasnt really sure what was going on so when i got to the office, I looked underneath and sure enough there was coolant running under the engine. I popped the hood and my coolant resevoir was nearly completely empty. Next i checked the hoses from the resevoir to the radiator, but no holes, leaks, or cracks. After letting the engine cool down for a while, i came back outside and seen a whole lot of coolant on the ground. i filled the resevoir back with plan old water, left the lid off, and watched to see what happend. It appears as though the water and left over coolant was flowing just fine from the resevoir, through the system, and back into the resevoir with no leaks coming from any hoses.
I crawled underneath and noticed that the leak might have been coming from the water pump? but im not really sure..!! also the water pump is making a little sound, but nothing to scream about..!

So my question...does this sound like my water pump is failing??
(also note) The engine DID NOT get hot at all, the thermostate was right at half and did not move. plus there was no smoke coming from the tail pipe, no smoke under the hood, and no weird vibrations.

Also, after topping off with water, i drove back home and now it doesnt appear to be leaking at all??
Any ideas, questions, comments...!!!???

take a flashlite and look down inside,

sometimes the leak from the water pump, the radiator or the timing cover or the intake, the heads.

but if the water pump is bad shake the fan, if it the whole shaft on the pump moves its bad.

Get a pressure test. That will find your weak point. Cheap and quick.

If you are not real mechanical, take it tomorrow to your local Rover shop and ask them to perform a coolant pressure test, this will confirm what is leaking.
Make sure you recheck and fill your coolant bottle tomorrow before you take it into a shop. I would also suggest you not drive the truck until someone can look at it, you don't want to loose the water pump, then the fan then the radiator, which is possible.

Thanks guys, will find someone to do the pressure test ASAP. The closest Rover dealer is probably 130+ miles, so im gonna have to find someone a little closer than that. I'll check around tomorrow to see who i can find.

Call this man, he's in Danville. He knows a lot about these trucks. Will Tillery, 434-251-9331.
He can get you an excellent price on a new water pump as well as give you good advice on where to find leaks on these things. Another common place to leak is the plenum gasket and also the long bolts that go through the water pump to hold on the timing cover which also likes to leak.
Reminds me, I need to get a plenum gasket.

Meanwhile, I think the closest radiator shop should have what it takes to locate the leak.

He is terrible but I find myself drawn to him like a moth to flame or a fat kid to twinkies.

Hey guys, thanks for all the help. I took my truck to the shop today for the pressure test and the dude said he found a leak in a hose and some loose clamps. Told me to take it easy for the next few days and watch close for any leaks, but should be 100%. (for now).

QUICK QUESTION..!! i forgot to ask him if he replaced the coolant in it tho, so since i topped it off with water, or if he put the green junk in it, whats the best way to drain the coolant/water????? will running water in it for the next day or two hurt anything??????? And im definately putting DexCool back in...!!

Oh yeah, from what i hear Will is the MAN..!! my buddy hit a tree and flipped his D1 XD last year and Will made things all better...haha..!! whenever i need the parts i need, Will is #9 on speed dial...#1 in our hearts..!!
