The fill plug is on there really good, and its starting to strip a little on the sides, how should i get this off to fill the differential, and where should i go to buy a new one (dealer? or a land rover parts dealer online)

Differentials & Other Land Rover Parts | FILLER PLUG DIFFERENTIAL

Less than $3.00 -> call your dealer, see what they charge. I'd hope it wouldn't be that much.

First, never drain anything till you know the fill plug is loose.
Don't buy one of those junk plastic plugs, go to Expedition Exchange and buy a couple of their solid brass plugs with o-rings.
You are in a fix at this point, can probably break out the plastic plug and buy a cheap replacement at a local hardware store till you get a good replacement.

here's what you do....it just might work
takes two people...

One person uses channel lock plyers on the outer rim of the plastic plug,
the other person uses a large flat screwdriver (the bigger the better).
simultaneously turn the plug. Use a constant, steady pressure and hold it. then apply a bit more until it releases. Worked for me until I ordered a new plug.
If you don't want to spend a lot of money on a fancy brass filler plug, you buy another plastic one and only put in on and take it off with the proper sized 6 point socket, it does not have to be very tight. It will last you a very long time! Actually, buy a half dozen of them and put them in your off-road kit. Who knows when they will come in handy for you or someone you're wheeling with.

good luck
