Default Tailgating in my Disco

My buddies and I are thinking of tailgating at a couple of Redskins games this year, Im willing to submit my Disco and my 42 Plasma in the back (seats folded down) thru the torture, but what do i need to to have a nice system setup.

Im not Putting a dish up, just rabbit ears for broadcast (we can until next year)

I already have a yellow top, and an outlet set up.
I would appreciatte anything and everything you guys can recommend.
The car would have to be running the whole time right?

I recommend beer, and lots of it.

I'd recommend a power invertor. I'm not sure if the car needs to be running the whole time but I'd start it periodically and let it run to recharge the battery.

Maybe look into a dual battery set-up for future. Or maybe a portable gas generator?

My wife tailgates at the Packers games with my DII. But once I get the DI back on the road, it will get the "tailgate makeover". To include dual battery, power invertors, removable rear storage units, quick release outdoor speakers on roofrack, etc, etc, etc.

I use a Honda Eu1000 generator and take my sat, gen runs for about 8 hours on half power. Used it all day last Saturday at the UGA/Bama game. Bad game but good times. Oh and yes lots of beer, thats the key!

I concur that a generator is the way to go. The rub with a Plasma and an inexpensive generator is the quality of the 120v coming from the generator. You may need some type of an AC filter and surge protector between the TV and generator. Oh yeah, you will need lots of beer.

+1

I work with a lot of audio and video guys. They always have concerns with potential power spikes from a gennie. But then again, we're usually running big Kohler diesel generators also

The Honda EU series gens are clean power, you can plug lap tops and plasmas without a problem.

Concurred. Portable inverters are another avenue. Higher cost; however, they are not always running at 3600 RPM to generate the 60 hz required for the stator.

Kipor makes a cheap one with an inverter...runs quiet and with the smart throttle- one tank runs my event trailer for a couple of days
