I have an 03 Disco II with 73K miles on the engine. I recently had the head gaskets replaced about 2 months ago. This however did not fix the problem. I still have coolant loss and cylinder misfires. I was told to probably suspect a slight drop in the sleeve.
Recently the engine starting making a tapping noise, loud when the engine is cold and gets quieter as the engine warms. I was told by one mechanic, that nothing can be done about the engine noise, I would have to live with that and the engine will fail at some point. I don't have any mixture of oil and water and coolant loss in minimal. I was also told the engine blocks for 03's were crap and changing lifters wouldn't help the problem much. Any help on this is much appreciated. I've only had this truck for a year. I have an aftermarket warranty and they picked up the tab for the head gasket repair, but engine replacement is not something they pay for. It's not an exhaust leak either. Frustrated!!! ![]() |
