Default Three Amigos gone...for now

Replaced the shuttle valve this weekend and while I had the modulator out I went ahead and re-soldered the plug as described in the Hummer write up. Wasn't the prettiest soldering job but for a first timer it will work, even though I burned my finger about 5 times. As of now I have no amigos and ABS/TC/HD are working as they should. Knock on wood they continue to to be gone.

Good for you! I'm getting ready to do the same thing and was wondering how long it took you to complete the job? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It really is not such a bad task to complete but I was a little gun shy just because I have never really soldered anything before. Taking the modulator out and installing the new shuttle valve is a breeze but when you pull the modulator apart to get to the plug this is where it gets tricky, I used a small fine tooth hack saw blade to access the back of the plug to re-solder, I know the Hummer write up suggests using a heated up xacto blade. After I CAREFULLY cut through the plastic I pried it back with a xacto blade. After I re-soldered the two little plugs (be careful here, the two little plugs will fall out and is a pain to get back in) I put some liquid electrical tape and put the mod back together and reinstalled in truck. I also spoke to a guy who did away with the plug, he just used the wires from the plug and cut the plug off the shuttle valve and straight wired the two, I did the way the Hummer write up instructed, didn’t feel comfortable enough with my soldering the try and accomplish that route.

Thanks for the reply!
Did you have any problems bleeding the brakes after you reinstalled the mod?

No, just bled them like normal but I will need to bleed them one more time, I ran out of fluid and I think there might be some more air in the lines, got to pump the pedal once to get a good firm feel but other than that no issues.
