Cool Ticking Sound?

I started to notice a new sound coming from my Disco's engine area, seems when i press the gas in the ticking sound is really fast and when i let the gas off it goes away. It almost sounds like a exhaust type sound coming out of the engine. I took it to Land Rover and the service lady told me it was just a normal sound.

After driving around some more i decided it wasnt "normal".

I made another appointment with Land Rover but i want to be sure this is a actual problem..

Any ideas?
Thanks,

Tommy

First, Don't let some service writer tell you what he doesn't have a clue about.
Find a good mechanic and get some better advice.

Grab a bit of garden hose about a metre long. Shove one end in your ear and move the other end around where all the joins are in your exhaust. You will hear it if it is leaking.

Chances are that the y-pipe/exhaust manifold jonction gaskets have gone bad. I'd start with that. Parts are cheap ($10 each) and this problem is very common.

Took it to Land Rover and they said the sound was from faulty "Exhaust Flange Gaskets". They replaced them both and the sound went away, actually feels like the truck has a bit more power now.

1 hour labor and $80.00 for the parts...
