Question Top 5 breakdown causes???

I recently had a breakdown on my 2002 Disco with only 40 000km on the clock. Transmission oil leaked from fluid feed pipe where it connects to the transmission box.

I wondered what the top 5 causes for breakdowns on the Disco 2's were. What can one do maintenance wise to prevent breakdowns and/or damage? Are there specific known issues that one should look out for?

For me, the top five have been:
1-Coolant leak (valley pan gasket, factory defect)
2-ABS light trio (brake dust from crappy brake pads)
3-Drive belt tensioner (50k self destruct item, I'm expecting the fan-clutch to go soon)
4-Rotoflex (failure due to suspension lift and offroading)
5-Double Cardon joint on front driveshaft ( I didn't have any problems with it, but I rebuilt it anyways to prevent a very costly repair if it did fail. They have been known to break, causing damage to the engine and transmission)

The only real dissapointment I have with the maintenance record is the valley pan gasket. IMO-It is an unacceptable factory defect that Land Rover should fess up to and fix for free. The rest of these problems I can live with

I pretty much agree with O.B.
If you were looking to use the truck as a serious weekend wheeler then I would add weak diffs.
Under coolant issues, I would add head gaskets.
But, I wouldn't drive any other vehicle.

spark plug wires. My own Disco was stricken at 28K and went into limp mode with flashing MIL. I've seen several others do the same.
