Exclamation Tranny Problem. Need help ASAP.

Recently my 2000 Disco has been having a shuddering problem when shifting from first to second gear. Sometimes it revs up a little higher than it should and when it shifts it will shudder. Sometime much more violently than other times.

I already drained all of the tranny fluid and but new stuff in hoping that maybe it was just low on fluid or something, but no luck there.

It also threw a OBD code that stated '4th gear incorrect gear ratio'. However the only time I see a problem is when shifting from first to second. After that every other gear shifts just fine.

Filled it up until it was running out, drove it down the street about a mile and back, then checked it again and it was still full.

Problem was occurring before this however.

Did you fill it both times while the engine was running with the tranny in park?
Do you have any warning lights on?

Yup, it's full. No doubt about that.

My SES light is on but it was just the '4th Gear Incorrect Gear Ratio' and bad O2 sensor along with the MAF showing up bad.

You usually have to fill it twice. Once while its not running, then start it and fill it again.

If the truck isnt running when you check it, its the incorrect level. The truck has to be running.

Im not saying you didnt do it right. Im just adding that for other folks that might come along and find this thread with transmission doubts.

Yep, checked it twice while it was still running. This problem was occurring before I ever drained and re-filled the tranny though. I was just hoping the fluid was old, and low.

That however, and unfortunately, was'nt the case since I still have the problem.

It's your MAF that is causing the 4th gear issues.
Start by replacing it.

Yeah, another guy mentioned that to me on the other forums. However the only problem I'm really even concerned about right now is my problem shift between 1st and 2nd gear.

thats because the incorrect numbers being supplied by the maf tell the comp that is probably running lean so it changes shift points so you get the hesitation.

Completely normal on all obd2 vehicles;

Sorry, I dont have anything to offer, but you may wish to rephrase the title...unless you do have problems with transgender people?!
