Default transmission problems

I have had a vibration for several weeks at around 40 mph. The transmission changes gears around 40 so I can't tell if it is the transmission or something else. The other day and everyday since in the morning when the transmission is cold it will not change gears at 40. It seems that it doesn't change at all into the final gear when driving in 3 not D. After the transmission changes a couple of times it changes every gear. There is no slipping or hard gear changes just the vibration and not changing into final gear when cold. The front driveshaft and a new transmission filter was put on at about 60,000 miles. The truck now has 98,000 miles on it. I think I am going to order another filter today to see if that helps. If anyone knows what is wrong I need help because I don't want to go to the dealer and get ripped off. Thanks

I would suggest you do a tranny service, not a flush and consider putting in a bottle of Lucas tranny additive to see if you can free up the valve body and solenoids.
If after that, if you are still having problems, get it into a tranny shop and have the check all the trannys operations with their scanner.
