Default Turn Signal Switch

When it is very cold out (20 degrees or less), the turn signals on our 2000 DII do not work. Is there a way to remove the switch, take apart, and fix; or do I have to replace the whole part?

Thanks

Nope. I would look more toward the flasher as being the cause and replace it cause the switch has nothing to do with how the system flashes.

It actually is the switch; this is a common problem for the DII in colder climes. This only happens in the winter, of course; the problem is that the contacts recede away from each other because they plastic they are mounted on in the switch shrinks. If I push, pull, yank, and otherwise jockey the turn signal lever, the turn signals come on. As soon as the heater warms up the interior, there is no problem!

Its nice to now be in an LR3 which the doors actually shut on the first try and I know the turn signals will signal when its cold! Just going to either fix or replace the turn signal switch before we sell the DII...

If anyone has had this problem, please comment on the fix...

Well, live and learn. 3 years in Colorado winters and I haven't experienced that.
I still lean toward the flashers and you may be right.
Take care,
Mike

Odd, it must be an 00' thing because my o1' has started and driven in 20 below and have never had a problem with turn signals.

actually on the lr3s the headlight switch goes and you intermittenly loose internal lights on the dash and the radio.

worse part is the problem is about not enough current. voltage is good.

Well thanks for the replies all. Mike, isn't the flasher function controlled electronically as in the P38 Range Rovers? If not, where is the unit, under the dash? I really think it is the switch because if I fool with it I can temporarily get the turn signals to work.

How can the headlamp switch fail in the LR3? It doesn't ever move, just leave lights in auto...

I think the flashers are located under the hood by the coolant reservoir.

That's where most of the fuses are anyways.
